Oil Pressure Low At Idle

Altho in the last few weeks, I would occasionally get the alarm when I cranked up. I also had a pretty loud lifter until the motor was heated completely and then it would quite down. 12 volts on the supply side and the sending unit actually varies the resistance to ground. I driven daily and on 1000 mile trips pulling a 16' cargo trailer- no issues, just lower PSI than my suburban with same engine. So I thought that I would reach out here for some input from some of you that have experience with these motors. I have a 2007 tahoe ltz 5. What is the normal oil pressure for 6.0. Low oil pressure can be indicative of low oil level, which can be caused by a slow leak, indicating there may be damage somewhere within the engine, a defective oil pump, a blocked oil filter, or an improper oil weight. I would see the pressure slowly rise while driving on the freeway until it was finally up to 55 psi when the rpm was above 2500. In most instances when the engine has seized, the only option is to completely replace the engine.

The oil pressure would slowly drop down to 20 sometimes lower. So is the o ring good to start with? The oil was fresh and I added some Schaeffers Neutra to the crankcase to clean it up. I went back and asked for my old oil sensor back as it was brand new and not the issue and they recommended an oil change with no surprise there! Engine has low oil pressure at idle. If you remove it then your spredding these particles through the lifters and solenoids that control them. I believe the problem is solved. While these pressure measurements are within the typical range, each vehicle is different. I was running Castrol Syn 10w30. So my issue is that at various times, or not at all, my oil pressure gauge will go to near 0 and the oil light comes on with the alarm bell ringing. Kind of a pain to get to. Lessons learned: 1) When buying a used GM truck (or any vehicle), always be the first to start the vehicle in the morning (ref mistake #1). Bought a 2011 avalanche with 75, 000 miles. Did you replace the sending unit? 3 with the dreaded afm. 3 Tahoe, 0-80 psi back and forth, would get stuck on 0 psi and the low oil pressure warning light and the annoying ding would sound off! I am convinced that they cut corners and did change some of the oring combined with lack of cleaning during the rebuild sludged up my oil to cause the check engine light. Rick... My motor has DOD/AFM. It IS NOT attached to the sending unit. Mine went back to normal after changing the oil 3 or 4 times in a month and using only good ACDelco filters. Any thoughts on the O ring that is talked about here... where is it located? What kind of oil pressure readings do you normally see when you're idling?
