Maxi and Riftan's dynamic really makes this comic work, backed up by the elements of fantasy, drama, mental illness, and a little bit of comedy. Theresa was described as stubborn, both by herself and Sandro, but I found Sandro to also be so, so stubborn. But wait…mething weird is happening here!! Theresa De Lucci has spent the first year and a half of her marriage dealing with the arctic chill also known as her husband Alessandro De lucci. In reality, Sawako is a sweet girl who simply wants to make friends, though her shyness makes it difficult. And even more amazing…this guy discovers in a second that he feels a lot for the poor woman…………. I couldn't believe how much Theresa had to endure during those 18 months when all she really did was to fall in love her husband who didn't want her. First of all, Sandro is kinda dumb. What shocked me the most, however, was how much I ended up liking the hero when all was said and done.

His commitment to showing her how she truly is the sun that revolves around him was endearing, and I found it sweet of him to try and be gentle with her. What I love about the story of Under the Oak Tree is how the relationship between Riftan and Maxi focuses on building their marriage from the ground up, working on setting boundaries, coming to terms with mental illness, and building a sense of love and respect for one another. If you haven't noticed from some of my past reviews, I'm a huge sucker for a tough guy with a heart of gold, and I think Riftan fills that trope very well. Talk about a change of HEART!!!!! Believed she loved him at first and then she's crazy about his body and having sex with him!!! I don't know I was just enjoying it! I'm not sure how the author pulled it off but she should keep doing it. Laughing with her and knowing that there's paparazzi everywhere meaning he knows that his wife will probably see them pictured together? Alessandro & Theresa de Lucci had been living in a loveless and cold marriage. But in a kinda good way? Ugh, I hated Sandro at first but I was happy when he finally manned up and realized how wrong he was about his wife.

I loved seeing how Maxi started to work to overcome her past abuse and how she basically still suffers from PTSD because of it. The comic itself focuses on the daughter of a duke, Maximilian, who married a knight at the coercion of her father.
